Noma from The Hourglass
First, I must thank the artist, verdant (verdant.deviantart.com), for this beautiful portrait of Noma!
Noma is an agent of an organization named HERO. And what is HERO? I will let my characters tell you! Upon all six characters of the main group meeting at the antiques shop, Ripples in the Pond, Siru introduces himself. Once she hears his name, Noma draws her weapon and tries to apprehend him – after all, her understood mission is to capture Siru, bring him back to HERO headquarters, and bring him to justice for his life of thievery. She is persuaded to wait until they can all hear about this mysterious task they all have, before making future moves. And in that moment –
Kai was baffled and exasperated. “What is HERO?”
As Noma opened her mouth, Siru cut her off. “Humble Efforts, Righteous Outcomes—HERO. An organization that specializes in doing good in the world. Its agents are trained to be heroes, or heroines in this instance, adhering to a moral code and humbly carrying out all that they do to make a positive change in the world.”
Noma’s angry eyes flashed at Siru, who smirked again, very pleased with himself.
Noma, after hearing all about the Hourglass, decides to go along with the other five in search of the Hourglass, but maintains she will keep a close eye on Siru the entire time and will finish her own separate mission after theirs.

Noma and Siru’s banter is probably some of the most enjoyable dialogue in the story. Noma endlessly takes jabs at Siru, and Siru wonders when it will all end. Besides categorizing Siru as a felon, Noma doesn’t have a high opinion of the Master Thief in several other characteristics. I will share with you a few jabs Noma makes:
“I will now add annoying to the list of your less-than-desirable traits. As well as overly inquisitive.”

Without missing a beat—or giving the group a chance—he(Siru) slid his hand out and then dragged Noma through. Once she had disappeared, they heard an angry but well-contained exclamation of, “Impatient and without boundaries,” from Noma from the other side of the fabric.
Will Noma ever see something positive in Siru, or will she just continue to see him as a thief that needs to be brought to justice? She’s vigilant in all things, so I will leave it at that!
